The Watchtower, Scholar and Misrepresentation of Source References
by AlanF inour resident pretend-jw-scholar who calls himself "scholar" enjoys justifying lying and misrepresentation by the watchtower society and himself.
the society, out of one side of its collective mouth, recommends not misrepresenting source references, yet out of the other side, goes ahead and does so without hesitation whenever it is convenient.
the society understands that unfair quoting is dishonest.

The Stem Cell experiment, good or bad?
by Brummie init was discussed by the president & kerry, it will be all over the news over the next few days because of the death of a hero, for some reason the stem cell issue scares me and i dont think i could support it, taking some voiceless life to improve another, maybe i am misinformed?
it all seems unethical.
i dont know all the facts, can you enlighten me please?.

Use of adult stem cells avoids killing any fetus. Adult stem cells are plentiful and avoid political and religious objections. One summary of this issue: http://www.stemcellresearch.org/facts/prentice.htm

The only good thing I have learned from this article is that the JWs have shrunk from 6 million to 4 million. Let?s hope that they are down to 2 million next year.

Murders Still
by Sam Beli in.
those murders at the wts still will not give up; they continue to spin half-truths and bits of information.
see this current article at their web site (on the evil internet): http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2003/12/8/article_01.htm.

I too, Stinky, find it sad. This guy probably had a promising career as a medical investigator, and he threw much of it away as a supporter of their murderous blood policy.
Candi, I am sure that he proved his humility (he was, after all, one of those high and mighty medical doctors) by cleaning toilets instead of helping the sick fulltime.
I find it both sad and tragic that this smart, well-intended physician was deceived by the WT propaganda, just as so many others of us were deceived. The WT loves to hold him up as an example, for the entire world to see, of a promoter of its murderous blood policy.
After blasting the medical profession for years, the WTS now has gotten in bed with fringes of this profession that do not see through its twisted propaganda.

Stop Worrying About the Ecosphere!
by metatron inbecause plants and other species - life in all its variety - has been here a lot longer than we have.. species come and go - more than 90% of all the species that have ever existed may be gone ( trilobites, dinosaurs, etc.),.
without our interference.. i like to feed the birds - but i don't worry about them collectively.
life adapts and moves on.. see:.

Blood to save a life.
by pratt1 in.
if one of your witiness relatives was incapacitated and the decision to give this relative blood or another lfe saving treatment, that is condemned by the society was thrust solely in your hands, would you give your consent although you know that this decision would be against their personal and religious beliefs?

? would you give your consent although you know that this decision would be against their personal and religious beliefs?
No. I am in this position with respect to a close relative who is a devout JW and has been for over 60 years. We have discussed the blood issue and this person cannot see anything at all wrong with the WTS? position on blood. This stance against blood has been well documented in a "living will."
Therefore, I will not go against this one?s wishes. In good conscience, I will not authorize blood even if needed, though I personally would accept blood when needed.

Classical Composers & Movie Soundtracks
by dh ini love all kinds of music and mostly listen to classic fm when i drive in the uk, being away a lot i have to rely on my .mp3 collection most of the time, or tune in online.. anyway i recently discovered a composer by the name of ludovico einaudi and i think his music is absolutely awesome, listening to it is like learning to breathe again, it's beautiful.
anyway i like a few other composers of contemporary classical type music such as john williams who does mostly movie soundtracks and a few others, and i wondered if anyone else out there was really into any contemporary classical music, movie compositions or full on classical compositions or anything like that?.
who are your favourite composers and what are your favourite movie soundtracks?
-
Sam Beli
Yes, I love some of the classics. I am not familiar with your modern composer.
Two of my favorites are Bizet, for his Camen, and Ottorino Respighi for his Roman Festivals along with his Pines and Fountains of Rome.
